There's a kid in Clinton Oklahoma who's been piloting a crop duster "fixed wing" Grumman since the age of 12, he's 20/21/22 now, I watched some of his vids when he was 15....the kids a fucking ace...where he got into a bit of hot water with the FAA was when he would stunt fly underneath power lines.

That fucking kid was cloned onto that plane.

Preface: everything one experiences while on or in the sea becomes an eternal memory, every minute of life surrounded by water is remembered forever.

Water has been my life, growing up on the shore of Lake Superior, 30 years in the Caribbean and salmon fishing excursions in the Pacific, I can honestly state that no day is the same as the last, in fact, life on the water can change in minutes.

A tempest is like a thief in the night and strikes mercilessly out of nowhere.

My relationship with the water began at the YMCA at 4years old. My father was a lunatic swimmer, strong and enduring, I used to ride his back when he'd do laps in the pool...I wanted to be like him.

Somewhere in the mid 60s, Friday or Saturday night, we're sitting down to a movie called
"OLD MAN AND THE SEA" with Anthony Quinn, black and White Zenith TV (quality goes in before the name goes out), I got hooked on the open water.

A quote that resonates from that movie was "man may be defeated but never destroyed".

When Santiago (Anthony Quinn) returned to shore with his catch he had only a portion of that catch left, the marlin that he fought and caught was shredded by frenzied sharks...BUT...they didn't get it all, destroyed a lot of it but never defeated the "Old Man's" will to fight for what could be saved.

What never left my mind about that movie was the old man slicing bits of flesh from his bait fish and sucking the moisture from them to quench his thirst. One thing I learned from that movie was fresh water can be drawn from the flesh of salt water fish.

The main point being with the movie is that no matter how tough a moment in life is "NEVER GIVE UP".
