There's something deceitfully vague here, I don't know exactly what it is yet but I think there's more to it and what needs to be done right now is an "acid test" (quick ratio) of every financial institution engaged in derivatives/futures/options/swaps/forwards...what are these derivatives based upon (assets), oil wells, real estate holdings, or hydro facilities that exist only on paper?
AN FYI...canadian BANKS HAVE BEGUN CALLING IN LOANS AND CANCELING CREDIT LINES

bifurcated and rehypothecated don't know how many times. and arbitrage. a part of one asset can be sold or many parts of different assets can be bundled and sold. over and over. metals can be bought on paper and rented out as viable assets. some estimate the derivatives bubble to be more than a quadrillion dollars. margin calls now? on boy...basically what i think is all is on paper. everything is derivatives. you might be interested in comprehensive annual financial reports - CAFR.
