No one has cared what the Spanish thought, or felt, since 1700. They had the world by the tail, now they serve as a tourist trap and it’s better than they deserve.

When I lived in London back in 1978, I had a girlfriend from Mallorca. She was in Britain to learn how to speak English well enough to speak with tourists visiting her father's shop. She was wonderful. Asked her to marry me and was told her father would kill me at the mere mention of marrying his daughter. They were Basques and she could never marry a foreigner. Solid people.
