The problem with those gotcha moments is that conservative types never attack and define their enemies in debate.
They think victory is merely to expose hypocrisy.

It wasn't a gotcha moment. Newsom was speaking entirely in vague half-truths that didn't mean anything and meant nothing without context, and Carolla was simply asking "Why? Why is that?" Things don't come out of a vacuum, and he was trying to establish the context rather than acting like Lt Gov Chicken Little in the video.
