Actually you are correct because it mimics human vision more. The human field of vision is naturally wider than it is tall, providing a panoramic view of the world. It is why televisions have only become more wider. Rectangular "landscape" screens provide a viewing experience that feels more natural and immersive for our eyes. The halves are equal...half is indeed half. It's just a that there is more sandwich when your mom or wife cuts it into triangle shapes for you.

You're not counting the sandwich, you are counting the bites it takes to finish the sandwich. Triangle takes more than two bites if you eat normally. Square does not.

Therefore you get to enjoy your sandwich for longer with triangle - you get "more sandwich".

Obviously a triangle-cut sandwich resists diminishing returns better than a square-cut one because each bite builds toward the center - the sandwich’s max hypotenuse - where the flavors and fillings peak. This gradual escalation keeps your enjoyment increasing until the very last bite, rather than flattening out early like in a uniform square-cut sandwich.

To achieve peak sandwich aka - more sandwich - the triangle method has been used since antiquity - square is more like spartan style
