So-called hate speech to be prosecuted?

During the midterms in 2022, when the red wave almost entirely failed to materialize except in very isolated pockets, one of the remarkable shouldn't/wasn’t supposed-to-happen things is the flip of some states to more blue. Perhaps the biggest example of that is right here where Church Militant is headquartered: Michigan.

In one night, the entire state government went from a medium shade of purple to deep blue as the communist Democrats seized back control of the state legislature, affecting the much coveted "trifecta" — control of both chambers and the governorship. With the Gov. Gretchen "lockdown" Whitmer winning reelection — as well as her Marxist maven counterparts, Attorney General Dana Nessel and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson — the Marxist Michigan monopoly is fully complete.

And as we predicted on election night (right here on this set), that was/is a big, giant danger to everything that faithful Catholics, as well as other people of goodwill, hold dear. True to form, the Marxists have introduced a bill into the state legislature, with the full support of the commie elites, that will destroy free speech of religious and political conservatives.

Of course, it's all under the guise of stamping out so-called hate speech. And we all know what that means: a euphemism for conservative speech. Any speech about truth that Marxists despise is labeled "hate," and under the proposed law, it will be punishable with fines, prison time or both. And before someone says, "That will never hold up in court. Just sue them," consider this.

First, going to court, even in the case of a slam dunk like our ongoing case in Baltimore, is a tremendous drain on mental and financial resources. Having lived in lawsuit land now for the past two years, even a win (and Church Militant is so far 4-0) in court drains away valuable time from the mission. We are here to promote the Faith for the salvation of souls and help turn around the culture to whatever degree we can in terms of people's thinking.

It's a dead civilization.

A woke civilization is no civilization at all; there is nothing civil about it, in fact. One of the central tenets of wokeism is that white males are the enemy because they are the oppressors. And who are the oppressed? The victims? Well, essentially, everyone else, more or less.

An oddball exception is made for elite white males. Think Chuck Schumer, Joe Biden and John Kerry, for example, who go along with the narrative publicly, but privately surrender nothing of their so-called white privilege. In fact, hypocrites like that, far from surrendering their influence, actually enhance their wealth and power in such an environment. So there is a strange set of rules governing all this.

Old white males — Soros, Fauci, Gates, most of Congress — are constantly preaching and financing an insurrection against who? Old white males and the patriarchy they portray it to be. If you're not a white male but still a male and you don't go along with this, then you get pounced on by the like-minded. But again, the weird set of rules here.

A few days ago, black Republican Sen. Tim Scott was talking about his distaste for wokism and the damage it causes. Right on cue, Obama attacked him, but the irony here is that Obama is half white, enjoying all the "privilege" of that half, while Scott is all black. Obama has three spacious mansions: Martha's Vineyard, Kalorama and a beachfront difficult-to-get-to property in Hawaii — not bad for making just 400K a year as president.

It seems whatever the rules are here in the land of the woke don't follow any organized pattern. Old, wealthy white males lecturing blacks or Hispanics about how they should rise up and seize control from old, wealthy white males? Wouldn't it be easier for the old, wealthy white males to just give up their wealth and then try and conjure a revolution? I mean, if they feel that strongly about it, that would be the easy solution.

But the reality is this has nothing at all to do with white males, per se. It's just that it's mostly white male fingerprints all over Western civilization. And since the object of their scorn is Western civilization and the Church that built it, they are fighting a phony war against white males — when the real war is against God and His Catholic Church. Western civilization is just something standing in the way.

Meet these cultural and spiritual warriors for Catholicism.

As we conclude our extended coverage of the Los Angeles prayer rally against the Dodgers and the award given to the anti-Catholic hate group, there are some important takeaways here.

If you were unable to catch our live stream of the actual event on Friday, we've pulled a few interview highlights we think are worth focusing on because they cover the gamut of the struggle we are in, both spiritual and temporal.

Up first, a bishop, the only bishop to appear at the event, at least publicly, Bp. Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, laid out the proper way to understand the struggle from a purely spiritual perspective. What too many Catholics really fail to understand is the decades-long, even centuries-long, assault that has been going on across a very broad front.

The institutions of Western civilization (all of them) didn't just come tumbling down overnight or even over the course of a few years. Our good friends at Tradition, Family and Property, have chronicled the meltdown as well as stood defiantly in the face of it at hundreds of events across the nation and the world. A problem ignored by San Francisco's archbishops for decades.

I'm Michael Voris coming to you from the Catholic prayer presence outside Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium.

This controversy arose from the decision by the Dodgers to first invite, then disinvite and then re-invite the group known as the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" — a group that largely mocks Catholic women religious to gain attention for fundraising for various liberal causes.

But what many don't know is the background of this group. Where did they come from? When did they start? How did all this suddenly become a thing? Unsurprisingly, you have to go back not to L.A., but actually to San Francisco in the late 1960s and 1970s, where all sorts of outrageous groups were forming and roaming about trying to draw attention to gay causes.

Most of that activity originated and took place in a neighborhood area of San Francisco known as the "Castro District," which, ironically enough, had been a heavily populated Irish Catholic enclave until all this began.

In the late 1970s, three men arrived from Iowa City with actual nuns' habits they had tricked out of nuns at a convent there, saying, according to press reports, they were just borrowing them for a production of The Sound of Music.

Once in San Francisco, the men donned the habits, on Easter weekend no less, threw themselves into the morass of the Castro District, rose to prominence above the earlier groups and became established as the definitive group dedicated to mocking cultural and traditional values through denigration of mostly Catholic teaching.

In October 1980, they held their first formal fundraiser — a bingo game. An advance write-up in the San Francisco Chronicle immortalized their name as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Is it really happening?

Could it be the case that all the social sexual woke weirdness over the past two years, especially the past few months, is changing some people's minds and making them more conservative? According to a recent survey, that looks like a distinct possibility.

But before diving into that headline, a word of caution. First, the term "conservative" has proven itself to be pretty darn elastic and somewhat difficult to nail down. It doesn't seem to correspond to an objective set of criteria but, rather, a description of where a person stands politically compared to someone else. So yeah, it's not all that helpful. But that said, it doesn't mean nothing.

Second caution: Polls and surveys nearly all need to be delved deeply into because the takeaway headline is almost always a giant overstatement of what the poll finds. So with those cautions, let's look, because there does seem to be some merit to this.

It looks like a "fed up" mindset is beginning to develop because a close examination of the deep data reveals Republicans account for the largest increase in saying they are socially conservative, from 60% in 2021 to 74% today, which is a 14-point jump in only two years.

Western culture is on the verge of collapse.

There is a gigantic clash of foundational philosophies going on in America right now, and the one that wins will dictate the course of history and the fate of the nation.

Everything that is being shoved in front of us daily in media and entertainment and sports and commerce is from the side promoting atheism — what we lovingly term "the Left" or "Marxists" but is really properly termed "the demonic." They do have the microphone, no doubt.

But there are quiet but nonetheless equally (if not more) determined efforts playing out to battle them in what has turned into really a kind of last stand — the legal system.

Stop worshiping a failed system.

I'm Michael Voris, coming to you from the We The Patriots Conference in Boise, Idaho, where loyal citizens of the republic have gathered for a series of talks and presentations on the state of affairs and what can be done.

But in side discussions with some folks here, a theme is emerging that Christianity is being (or has already been) replaced by a kind of political religion, where the Constitution is viewed as more important than the Scriptures.

Of course, no one here at this heavily Protestant-attended event will come right out and say that, but that's the undercurrent, at least among some (and by some, we mean not a few).

America is a Protestant nation. Period. That is the underlying ethos that permeates, or at least permeated, every institution in the country. But what exactly is the Protestant ethos? What is the underlying philosophical principle which flows through the bloodstream? Ultimately, it is a rejection of authority.

Not exactly a good one.

It seems the Vatican is annoyed at criticism on social media aimed at it, the hierarchy and Pope Francis. So a few days ago Rome dropped a "polite" document advising Catholics not to be divisive on social media, but rather behave "not so much as 'individual influencers,' but as 'weavers of communion': pooling our talents and skills, sharing knowledge and contributions."

Well, that's all well and good and certainly has some merit objectively, but (and this is a big — really big — "but") when you have people within the Church who are "influencers" in their own right and they are dividing the faithful and depriving them of actual Church teaching and making it up as they go along, what are faithful Catholics supposed to say in response?

Does the Vatican want us talking about how lovely the parish bake sale was after the 10 a.m. Mass and that the Smiths are very excited about helping plant the parish vegetable garden?

Give me a break.

This is war — spiritual war — and the only difference now (and which is likely eliciting the document from the Vatican) is that the true believers are pushing back against modernism and all its evils. Shut up and build community? Seriously?

Saintly footwear created by Catholics for Catholics.

When Bp. Sheen, who could be a canonized saint by now if not for the scheming by various U.S. bishops to prevent that from happening, said it's up to us, the laity, to save the Church. he wasn't kidding.

So in addition to all kinds of efforts of the more high-minded sort dealing with the brain and intellect directly, there are also what we might term more down-to-earth efforts (literally, down to earth), like what you put on your feet while walking around. We're talking about Catholic devotional socks, the brainchild of Scott and Elizabeth Williams, who started up Sock Religious — home-based in Indianapolis and just having passed the 100,000 order milestone, making it the biggest Catholic sock company in history.

Scriptures do say, "How beautiful the feet of those who bring glad tidings." So those feet might as well be wearing beautiful socks as well, right? In fact, something we may almost never really pay any attention to in the Bible is feet.
