Hello and welcome to another Friday Night Guitar Thread! Like normal, we'll get you started.
So, I have an external disk with me and I was poking around on it. I found some stuff that you've almost certainly not heard - or not heard in a very long time. That means we're going to share some freshly updated music.
Unlike my normal posts, we'll get you going with a couple of tracks...
This one is BDE but without me...
[AC_DC - It's A Long Way To The Top (full band w_o david)](https://share.fngt.gq/music/BDE/AC_DC%20-%20It%27s%20A%20Long%20Way%20To%20The%20Top%20%28full%20band%20w_o%20david%29.mp3)
And this is a fun one. If you're unfamiliar with the song, and haven't heard it in years, be patient. Listen to the whole thing and you'll know why I covered it all those years ago.
[Beat It (Micheal Jackson)](https://share.fngt.gq/music/rock/soft/Beat%20It.mp3)
By the way, I found some music I haven't shared in a long time - if ever. I brought a backup external drive with me and I decided to take a look at what was on it.
Thanks. It was a fun one back in the day. I'm a pretty big fan of SRV, even ranking him quite a bit higher than many other guitarists.
Unfortunately, we'll never know how he'd have matured. Lots of guitar players mature with age and create some great music later in life. We'll never have that with SRV.
I can pretty much cover anything I hear, though it may take a bit to get the tone right.
I no longer find anything reasonably that I can't play.
No, if you just put your fingers in random places and thrash on the strings, I can not replicate that. Otherwise, assuming it's rational and using real chords and finger patterns, I can cover it.
Thanks! We've been doing this since 2017. We'll see if we still want to do it in 2017.
That's a long time in 'internet-years'. Many popular websites don't even last that long. Hell, it's longer than MySpace was popular - by a good 5 years.
As I said in the other reply, this is what text went with it when I first shared it (and I'm not sure if it has been shared since):
"This next one is because I was warming up and making sure my fingers were adjusted for a Strat neck. EH said she'd never heard me play it before, so she had me finish. She then decided we should record it and share it tonight.
And, I quote, "COFFEESNORTER likes him. Besides, you just got done telling me that this song typifies SRV. You're going to play it and I'm going to record it."
She's right, it does typify SRV. From a player's perspective, it uses all of the styles that define him as an artist. The song's name is Tightrope, and it doesn't get played nearly enough. Even if you have never heard it before, you can tell it's SRV by the style of the music. Thus, it typifies him."
Sadly, COF is no longer with us. Man, that was a lot of years ago.
It's a riot. When I first posted it, a long time ago (and seemingly haven't posted it since, at least not with this URL), I had this to say:
"This next one is because I was warming up and making sure my fingers were adjusted for a Strat neck. EH said she'd never heard me play it before, so she had me finish. She then decided we should record it and share it tonight.
And, I quote, "COFFEESNORTER likes him. Besides, you just got done telling me that this song typifies SRV. You're going to play it and I'm going to record it."

I think they can but it's still a long recovery time. Those holes in the bone take a while to fill in and the bone is quite weak until they do. Also, any serious impact could break it again - this time in places where it was weak. I'm pretty sure it is an arthroscopic surgery - though it might be tough to get the screw out of the tiny incision. I'd have to ask. LOL I have never actually asked that question.
Listening now. I can dig it. I'm not a huge fan of country but I don't mind it and can appreciate quite a bit of it - especially the older stuff. It sort of turned into rock in the 90s. They just added a twang and drawl and called it country. These days, you even have 'country rap', which I've yet to appreciate.
I'm holding up okay. I ran the course of antibiotics and feel much better. There's still a bit of phlegm but it's nothing I can't handle. I assume I'll continue to get better. If not, I'll be more aggressive with my health care rather than putting everything off.
It's time for me to accept that I'm in the elderly category.
I could but it will not likely help. My hip is sitting just fine in its socket. It has worn some but not to the point of needing to be replaced. It'd probably not solve the pain issue.
There is a shot at reducing the pain. I could have them open me up to remove the screws. There's a chance, not a very big chance, that doing so will reduce the pain. It requires major surgery all over again and 8 to 12 months of recovery.
There's a chance that it will reduce the pain. Like I said, it's not a very good chance. If the odds were even 50/50, I'd take the chance. They estimate it at closer to 30%.
That's not good enough odds for me to go through all of that all over again.
That's a good choice. I'm reasonably fit but that's just because I picked up the habit when dealing with the PT after the wreck. So, I still work out on a regular basis. It's no longer every day but more like three or four days a week.

I'm listening to the Opposite Day one.
It has a vibe, or so I think that's what the cool kids call it these days. In my own lingo, I can dig it.

I've been practicing diligently for many years.

Oh, I have not.
I'm pretty much still a national treasure. You should throw a parade for me. And, you're welcome.
I just don't bother with the rest of the site.

LOL I'm listening now.
I have been sick for a long time so I haven't been drinking as much. Well, last night I got into the rum.
I actually sat down at the laptop when I got back from dining. I was having issues using the trackpad. I gave up on that in short order.

We weren't able to get a reservation until 2100 so I won't be here long.
I wanted to dig something out that was old and I came across this very rough recording.
[SRV - Tightrope](https://clyp.it/ymtj2edu?token=ecc26e41fa37fe45bc95bb455afa87a4)
I wanted something gritty for tonight and chose that.
Rock on, goats! Rock on!
