I saw Cake twice back when they were popular, and they sucked horribly both times. Both shows were at festivals, and they played at like 3:00 PM both times. The crowd was NOT into them either time, and the lead talker dude was furious about it both times and would just rant at the crowd about how they were dicks and should be having fun and cheering.

It wasn't until a little later in life that I realized that Cake sucked in general.

I knew of Centaur, but never listened to them. One of my friends is from the Champaign, IL area and told me about them but I never got around to listening.

Years ago, I got to see Hum in Charlotte, on my birthday when they did some shows with Failure. I got my copy of Fillet Show signed by Matt Talbott.

How things work in my county:

They've got a set of question cards that act as a flowchart when getting a call. They're basically following a script per call, not being a human.

There is a LOT of employee turnover. Crazy amounts. There are two 12 hour shifts and you're hearing emotionally distraught people calling all that time. We'll just say that I work 911 adjacent, and I've seen plenty of people quit on their first day.

Due to the turnover rate, they end up hiring a lot of complete retards.

There is a LOT of noise in that room. There's other calls going, CAD alerts going, etc, dispatchers on radios, they've got police and fire radios going.

It's quite a stressful job. No way I could do it.
