Long story short, in the interest of your health and finances, opting out of a smart meter is the way to go. Even digital meters (because there's allegedly a difference between a smart meter and a digital meter) don't make sense to me, because nobody comes to check on them like they would need to with an analog meter. I have family who opted out of a smart meter but still have a digital meter. Nobody from the power company checks on it. Hm...
