To play devil's advocate, getting information about what features people uses is useful, and if all was well with the world and everybody played nice, there wouldn't be a problem with collecting the information. They even made it so that you had to opt-in to send it. But coming on the heels of being bought out, and using Google and Yandex to collect info, is dubious, to say the least. And it's only one small step to go from opt-in to opt-out.
