Although released by
Tom Rush before Jackson Browne, this song was originally written by Jackson Browne when he was just 16 years old in either 1964 or 1965, who released his in 1973. It appeared on a Browne demo in early 1967 under the title "I've Been Out Walking." Browne recorded the song on his 1973 For Everyman LP, with an arrangement written by Gregg Allman (
who also covered it around the same time on his Laid Back debut solo set).

Well, I'm sorry to hear that, my friend. I'll include you in my nightly prayers. It's not much, but it's the least I can do for you. You're spot on with both Joni and Jackson. They were definitely ahead of their time with their music and lyrics. Genius beautiful poetry along with extraordinary musical talent common with that era and the many folk musicians, but they rose above and shined oh so brightly. I can't think of any songs that I don't like by either of them.
I wish you a speedy recovery, COF. I hope everything takes a turn for the better for you, but you are right, nobody gets out alive. If you have a go fund me going, I'll gladly donate and if you need an ear, I'll gladly listen. Take care.
