The image of the open-cast mine on the site does not show up on reverse search. The nearest match I could find for this mine was the Diavik Diamond Mines on Lac de Gras, in Canada.
It is a mine on an island in a lake that freezes over every winter. The lake has never receded, as far as I know, but if it had it would fit slightly with the text on the website; "As waters recede, riverbeds reveal." In the image we can see road ways and even a city all in ruins. It is a strange image. There is absolutely no way a city exists under Lac de Gras and the image is not of the the Diavik Diamond mines, but it is the best I got.
