A teaspoon of clove is potent yet small, but left out exposed to the elements would taste like dust rather quickly. The same is true especially with nutmeg. I expect those who have had a good hot buttered rum would be happy to know how to make their own without risking Good Rum to something sub par. That cost is high.
And yes, batteries in the freezer is retarded, they belong in the refrigerator's butter drawer.
