Only Moscow was not considered a priority target by Hitler as the Army Groups going North towards Leningrad and South to Ukraine was given prioritization instead of the Army Group in the center which was heading towards Moscow. Thus the momentum of a fast attack on Moscow was lost and the delay to attack Moscow allowed the Russian's to build up their defenses of Moscow and when the German's finally started their offensive against Moscow, the muddy season had arrived and that gave German's a huge disadvantages because the mobility of the Panzers was heavily affected, not allowing them to be used at their full potential.
