Alexander the great, around 330 BC, burned the library or libraries of Alexandria and My understanding is that that library's first directive was to have at least one copy of every written work in existence. At a stroke, a major fraction of civilation's accumulated knowledge disappeared. He wasn't Christian. I would bet that there are mult examples of conquering Muslims burning/destroying libraries of peoples they conquered from 620 CE onward. Suspect humans in general can be relied upon to destroy as many remnants and reminders of any/all conquered peoples, tribes, states
