Finished reading "Killing the Rising sun" about WW2 in the Pacific. If you think people are going to think twice about killing thousands and millions of people in the worst ways possible if a war goes off then you need to think again.


I think that's the one thing this book does better than any history book I have ever read is it manages to express in great detail the deaths and method of deaths and the magnitude of deaths in so much of the progress of this war.

I think we all can't help but think that people would hesitate in starting a nuclear war for example or in killing a lot of people if there was a civil war that broke out. But after you read this book you realize there would be no hesitation. Leadership in war loses all conscience and humanity.

I've read a lot about World War II and know the history because my father fought in it but something about this book made it so much more horrific and real.


If you're counting on some sort of humanity line in the sand that people won't cross because it would be crazy then you're really counting on something that historically has not existed. You probably shouldn't count on that.
