He's also genetically Irish.

So what is your complaint exactly - that he's a left leaning entertainment type? Or that he's from NYC? That could apply just as well to, say, George Carlin, another comedian. Unsurprising an Irish-Jewish hybrid would be from there. Personally I can't tell the difference between New Yorkers whether they're yids, wops, or micks. When they speak that is.

"Whatever recent television or movies might say, however, it is important not to make too much of the Irish American swing to conservatism. White Catholics are still more likely to vote Democrat than white Protestants, and Irish Catholics are more likely to do so than Catholics as a whole. Moreover, there were important regional distinctions in the Irish Catholic vote even in the 1980s. While Irish Catholics in the state of New York and other states swung decisively to Reagan in 1984, their fellow Irish Catholics in Massachusetts did not. Southern New England, the Irish Catholic heartland in America, remains a Democratic stronghold, indeed, it is probably the most thoroughly Democratic region in America." - Timothy J. Meagher, The Columbia Guide to Irish American History (2005)

Imo you could just as easily call him just another Northeastern liberal as Jewish.
