Yesterday, after work, the boy and I went out in the jeep. It was beautiful weather, about 80 degrees. Loaded up a bag full of pistols, a few boxes of ammo, a couple of towels, and a bit to drink.
We 4x4'd out to a nice secluded spot on the river, a few miles from anyone else. It's a place that you can't get to without four wheel drive, so most people don't bother to begin with. The ideal spot has had some people camping in it for the last week, so we had to back track to the next best spot.
From there we did some target practice, he got to try out my full size pistols instead of just the smaller ones this time. His aim needs work, but his grip improved since last time.
After that we went for a swim, jumped off the rocks across the river for a while. Eventually we got tired and swam back across to where we parked. We skipped rocks until we were mostly dry and packed up and left.
It was a good day. Don't forget to build memories with your kids.
You can wait all you like but you will still make mistakes, just like everyone else. I have three boys, each eight years apart, so I was a very different person when each was born. I have and continue to make mistakes but they know that I am trying to do what is right for them and that I am learning too. Good luck; kids are awesome.
