Hm, you raise an interesting point. I don't think I've ever heard a scared child scream for Jesus... it's always "daddy" or "mommy" that they cry out to save them. This child was SEVEN years old... I sincerely doubt that he truly understood anything about Jesus.

It does say something that he would call out for someone who isn't physically present rather than his actual guardians, present and responsible for his safety. It makes me wonder how his home life was... Perhaps he cried out for Jesus because he was used to his mother and grandparents failing him, and so he only felt the Divine could save him.

That mother should be questioning why he didn't call to her. She needs to take a hard look at herself as a mother. SHE is responsible for this- she let someone knock her up without marrying him. Everything that goes on to happen to her child is entirely her fault for not finding a good father before having children.

I was thinking about this sort of thing in relation to feudal Europe and bastardy. A noblewoman who willingly has sex and conceives a bastard, but then lies about his paternity in order to retain a legitimate claim on whatever he's supposed to be entitled to... That mother literally brought her child into the world to become the target of all of her family's enemies. Truly abhorrent.

I read something yesterday that claimed that by 2034, over 1/2 of the world's female population will be single mothers, if things continue as they are now. This is a nightmare scenario, and I don't know how to stop it...
