That's one reason. Another is that if the human body is fighting off too many "infections" (or antigens) at the same time it doesn't develop immunity to all of them effectively. IIRC there was a limit of 3 determined experimentally, which is why you have combo vaccines like MMR (measles, mumps and rubella).
