The end result is a shotgun that has elephant rifle levels of power when using slugs. It would effectively double the effective range of shot, as well as possibly allowing for more shot volume.
There's a few that already exist, mostly made by individuals rather than corporations as gun design has stagnated horribly.
They can possibly modify existing shotguns by swapping out the barrel and receiver as the dimensions for shells would largely be the same, at least until they made something fit for the purpose.
