Honestly if that thing wasn't locked in the apple universe it could have sold. It is that much better than meta-quest 3. I'm a believer it it's possible usecases.. if it was open.
I think the increased productivity when used right with all the tooling an open environment could have made for it could be worth $3500. But spending $3500 to only be able to do what apple will let me will never make sense.
Plus it's shocking the lack of second hand market. I would have picked one up if I had found a good deal on craigslist that wasn't a scam.
People are saying it was a gimmick. What that hardware was capable of is no gimmick. But apple only knows normie mass-appeal or what they think has mass-appeal. So they took serious hardware and made it a gimmick.
I want to be able to code anything on it and build out with others custom IDEs to fully leverage it. They want to show me home movies.
