The drums on Us and Them are amazingly bad. It is amazing because the guy is aping Ringo Starr which is a very easy job, and the producer has to get down a solid drum track Above All. They let about 20 objective mistakes through, tried to cover it with cymbals, and recorded Them badly!

Most of the mistakes are in the drum fills which are square fills and should not be full of mistakes. The cymbal smashes are louder than the snare drum, full of treble and smashed too hard. They are definitely added on later. The process on getting a rhythm track done is pretty easy. It is crazy that they kept this take. It would have sounded way worse in the early stages and I would have absolutely just redone it and probably straighten out the drummer a bit because he's clearly losing his mind

There's a similar instance of this in the long and Winding Road. It wouldn't matter if they weren't intended to be singles. But when they're intended to be a single it is crazy to have musicians slacking. John on bass was just not dedicated to Excellence.

While I'm thinking of startling mistakes in singles, the guitar solo at the end of Sympathy for the Devil is mixed insanely weird. It's crazy. Don't do drugs kids

The best parts about Us And Them are the piano, the sax, and Sam Smith's vocals
