Changes in society have created the current paradigm.
- Before you had an agricultural society. Needed kids as farm labor. This meant a wife and putting up with a woman. Now though kids are expensive. The incentive structure weighs against bothering with a wife.
- Technology: before you needed a cook. Now you can just use a microwave.
- Social expectations and small towns: before you were expected to get married in a small town America that basically doesn't exist anymore. If you didn't the old folks lectured you and the town thought you were a fag.
- Divorce: often illegal. You got to live unhappily ever after.
- Female financial dependence: Women make their own money. They don't need you anymore. Before the 70s a woman needed a male signature to so much as open a bank account.
- Frankly, you don't need them anymore either. So sit around and bitch about them. Men bitched about women when they were married to them too. But now you need excuses for why you don't have one. Just say women suck. It's easy to blame the other.
- 'Over-choice': someone said Arkansas under Clinton had such a high teen pregnancy rate because there was nothing else to do there. Nothing else to do described the US a hundred years ago. Now grown men play video games and there is lots to watch on teevee. For that matter you need to name the Jew on social media.
