Recall the video of the parachutes before and at splashdown. Four parachutes spread widely apart. Parachutes don't do that, they would be dragged by gravity to be just above the craft and would entangle.
This my friends was CGI. And that jet on the flight path was a spotter plane checking for any witnesses in boats, then flying low and dropping the empty capsule.
