In some ways a reasonable point. A 'country' that relies on a military edge courtesy of US taxpayers to so much as remain solvent - and even with that it is in trouble - is not really a country. Plus they have massive internal division, and that isn't even counting the Arabs, roughly equivalent to North-South in 1860.
They look like the Jerusalem crusader state. Except they're unlikely to last nearly as long.
