A customer at work gave me this big ass wooden crate. It is build sturdy and has these nice latches on the side to take the side off, and it has some tough caster wheels on the bottom. Loaded it into my work truck and took it home. I'm gonna make a chicken coop out of it.
IIRC, a chicken's autonomous functions still work as long as even a little of the brain stem is still in the neck. There was a guy in the early 1900s who kept a headless chicken alive for a couple years and took it to freak shows.
As for chicken-related work, no comment other than "it's fowl".
