If you have an aloe Vera plant then you can use the gel as a rooting hormone. Works well.
When taking the cutting, cut at a 45 degree angle with clean fiskars and immediately smother the exposed tip in the gel.
Remove leaves from the lower half of cutting.
You actually want to use soil lacking in nutrients as over enriched soil can actually fuck things up and burn the delicate roots. I use Coco coir a bit of perlite mixed in, but also had success using sand. Keep them in a smallish pot and put a plastic bag over, keep in shade or partial sunlight.
Azalea cuttings should be ready to plant after a month or two.
