I would like to start off by saying everyone here should be keeping their bodies healthy. You should be exercising regularly and keeping your body fat percentage low. This is a good general rule of life. This might be a long post, so I put the most important part in the beginning.
On monday I began feeling like shit. Send the kids off to school/daycare and just laid in bed all day. I never suspected it was covid, until I got a text later that night that a family member (from Thanksgiving) tested positive. Now there are a lot of accounts on the internet that covid is fake or not a big deal. And I'd argue that if you're in good health that's likely true. Unfortunately I have let the past 21 months get the better of me and went from 165 lbs to 200 lbs. Nothing I'm proud of, but it's the situation.
Slowly in a group text with the family more and more were testing positive. My grandmother going through chemotherapy being among them. My wife and I got hit hard and had to keep the kids home. Let me tell you - kids don't give a shit how you're feeling. They still need baths, lunches, snacks, etc. On top of feeling on death's door we've also had to be parents.
As far as symptoms we had the full gambit. High fever, cough, congestion, coughing up brown wads of slime, body aches, etc. Lost taste on day 3. I don't doubt we could have gotten over it at home, but after 3 days of shoveling over the counter medicine and supplements in my upset stomach we decided to get treatment. We went for the monoclonal antibodies and unfortunately had to pay out of pocket. The past 2 days we have felt better. Not out of the woods yet, but I can hear the highway.
Here's the thing about this situation that drove me nuts - everyone is wrong. The virus is extremely real (possibly man made) and should be taken seriously. My wife is vaccinated (J&J) but experienced the same symptoms as everyone else. Both sides need to clear up their shit here. The right needs to encourage people to lose weight and take their health into their own hands and the left/establishment needs to acknowledge the vaccine isn't a one-stop-shop, has waning efficacy, and plenty of horrid side effects.
Stay safe everyone, and feel free to ask questions. I omitted a lot of details.
