There's a trade off between protecting your site from new users abusing the site and welcoming new users to becoming active participants.
Kind of like IT security. You can unplug it, super secure, but not very useful...
This site has erred a bit far on not being new user friendly. For instance, I frequently can't upvote and I've been around for years (from reddit, to old voat and now to new voat). And I maybe upvote 10 posts per week, only when I really like something.
People have been saying this since a Bitcoin was valued at less than a $.01 USD and they'll be saying it after a Bitcoin is valued at over $10M USD. The reality is, there is intrinsic value to Bitcoin. Same as with any fiat. Its valuable because other people want it and will give value for it. Why do people want it? They see what is happening to fiat.
The entire value of the banking system is built on the convenient ability to transfer wealth by using a trusted 3rd party. Every 3rd party in history has proven untrustworthy, but we always deal with it because of the enormous value they provide by making it convenient to transfer value.
With the blockchain, the 3rd party is incorruptible. The ability to transfer value remains. Its been around for 15 years and has gone from less than a penny to $50k. It did this because it is valuable.
When the tools are built to fix some issues (ease of use, government regulation, fees, etc) it will be the most valuable financial system ever created.
Not that your point has no merit, powerful people will attempt to sabatoge it to retain their power. They may succeed or they may fail, but USD is absolutely being stolen through inflation. I'll take my chances with Bitcoin.

Every fundraiser gets shut down because the financial system puts pressure on the host for "racism".
We need a crypto fundraiser.

Actually, you're missing that the its $36/month and $20B/yr. $36/month = $432/yr. 20B / 432 = 46.3M people.

I see. Actually, I just noticed that my up vote didn't even count. Maybe my score is too low to vote... Oh well.

I saw it, laughed, and gave you an up vote. Then I read your comment. The vote score appears to be 3-1 for me. Doesn't seem like it's being burried.
