There's a trade off between protecting your site from new users abusing the site and welcoming new users to becoming active participants.
Kind of like IT security. You can unplug it, super secure, but not very useful...
This site has erred a bit far on not being new user friendly. For instance, I frequently can't upvote and I've been around for years (from reddit, to old voat and now to new voat). And I maybe upvote 10 posts per week, only when I really like something.
You would know since you were one of the ones harassing newbies and chasing them off if you didn't like what they were saying, you and your buddies that is.
Alright, let us say you are correct. It shouldn't be hard to give one example of me "harassing newbies and chasing them off if you didn't like what they were saying". So please, give us an example.
