It not so much a "chemical" per se (it actually uses a very common household substance you can get at any Home Depot, Hobby Lobby or Lowes) so much as a "recipe" and a technique. It's not the sort of thing that you can just read about on the internet and then go out and do. Like shop class, or cooking, it has to be learned "hands-on".
Without getting into the specifics here, there is another kind of moldable field expedient incendiary charge that would be even more applicable in Minecraft. How hot? Well, it takes thermite just to initiate it, and it makes steel run like water.
The other problem with commercial and military explosives? Do you know what "taggets" are? You might as well leave your fingerprints at the scene.
Ah, yes. The old "L-shaped ambush". Also known as, "A-team fires up B-team, and vice-versa".
It's not "the bullet with your name on it" you should be worried about.
It's all those random bullets flying around loose addressed: "To whom it may concern".
SEMTEX is 1) difficult to source, and 2) loud and flashy.
Thermite, on the other hand, can be made from easily obtainable materials from common and anonymous sources, can be made in a mud hut in an afternoon, and using a glycerine and and potassium permanganate initiator, and at 2,300 degrees F, will go through that hull at the keel, right under the diesel tanks, even underwater.
And the best part is, 1) nobody even knows it's working until it's already done, and 2) none of the normal fire fighting materials or systems on board will be able to stop it. Those are all designed to fight onboard fires, above the water.
Funny how they'll argue that "the founding fathers never envisioned people inventing assault weapons!" on the one hand, while skipping right past the fact that any well dressed gentleman of the period wouldn't think of leaving the house without a sword. Which is also "not a firearm".

It's not as if this shit hasn't been tried (and failed) before, while also creating well-financed criminal organizations in it's wake.
