Steve Morse & Allan Holdsworth live     (Guitar)

This actually exists. Craziest Steve Morse I've ever heard. I know Allan didn't like jams like this, but he sounds like he's actually having fun here.

This one is for us shredder dorks. "Go Off" was the first I ever heard Jason Becker and Marty Friedman, on a guitar player magazine sound page(those floppy little 45 records inside the magazine). I never would've dreamed I'd see this insanity played live. He even nails Jason's "slow" solo at the end.

I loved this when it came out 8 years ago, then like everything else I immediately forgot it. I've seen the guitar player on other shit, and he's beyond incredible. But there's no solo on this. It doesn't matter, this shit gives me faith in the younger generation.

I posted the fretboard diagram of this in some other thread, so I looked to see if there are videos of people playing it. Of course there are, and I watched about 194 of them before I found one even close.

[Jimmy Rosenberg-Django's Improvisation #1](https://youtu.be/KpzCePYoI8E)

Everyone else was sloppy and got tripped up on the same parts. Jimmy even has trouble with that monstrous lick at 1:38 but he still pretty much nails everything. Interesting that nobody can replicate an improvised performance by a guy with 2 fingers in 1937.

Well kind of. Jeff Healey played like this, but never any crazy shit like here. Check out Rory Hoffman on the right. He's obviously got at least 1 bass string, possibly 2, not sure what's going on there. This asshole plays about 20 instruments and sings, all amazingly like this. He looks like he's blind, or somethings wrong with him.

I HIGHLY suggest checking out Joscho Stephan's youtube channel. It's 100s of videos where something amazing happens in every single one. Usually with someone I've never heard of who is incredible.

It's no secret who my favorite is, but this is one of the most insane licks I've seen played by ANYONE on a guitar. 14:41 if the timestamp fucks up. This arpeggio idea is nothing new, he usually does it when he's playing really good and super into it. But I've never heard him take it all the way across the neck like this and get so outside with it. The fact that he's picking every note at this speed too, fuck.

This is kind of a weird one. From the imitating a train horn with tremolo picked chords, to the alt picking extravaganza solo, to the punk rock ending where it sounds like he throws the guitar against the wall. Check out his right hand strumming, it never stops at that tempo. Very similar to the Dregs song from last week.

Here you get to see how he played this crazy shit on an improvisation. Keep in mind this fucker is doing this with 2 fingers:

This band was a massive influence way before I ever picked up a guitar. This performance especially was always up there with the "Machine Gun" solo in terms of godliness for me. I never imagined there would be video of it, so here it is:

His composed shit like this is amazing, but his jazz shit is next level. this tapping excursion (2:48 on if the timestamp doesnt work) is unreal:

Here he is improvising over Sunny. I don't know what to say about this crazy shit:

I don't love tapping on acoustic, but always thought this beats the shit out of Eruption for Eddie solo things. That monstrous ascending lick is the most badass thing I've heard him play, but whenever he did this live he pussed out and never played it. Here's what it would've looked like:

Guitars That Rule the World 1992     (Guitar)

This came out when I was in high school and blew us away of course. Here are the 3 best ones, but it's all good.

First, by far the best thing Zakk Wylde has ever played:
https://youtu.be/P_cTl052x_o

Next, the best Yngwie song ever. He redid this for a record, but it's not near as good as this version:
https://youtu.be/gRmTqdM_1CM

Finally... this. The Paul Gilbert one. Before this came out, he said in an interview that he sped up the guitar on one part as a joke on all the shredders. The thing is, he's so fucking fast you're wondering the whole time which part is sped up(it's obviously the ending fadeout):

I don't know much about metal and find guitar music to be one of the lowest art forms. But this dude's upstrokes are nuts. He only plays one fast lick in the solo(which I love), and it's a motherfucker.

This confuses people because it sounds so weird. Anything that sounds like a slide, violin, or theremin is this thing. There are 2 switches, 1 turns on the sustainer, the other gives you an extra feedback note. Kinda like a built in harmonizer.

I know nobody cares about acoustic shit, but I have very little on electric. This was right after a hospital stay, the longest I've gone without playing until right now. That's why I'm shredderific the whole time, I'd never play like this now. The bass player was incredible, we never saw him again! This was the first thing we played before even talking to each other. I was doing nothing last night and slept through it, lame. This was a MAJOR upgrade from my first 4 track which had a gay channel, so it was really a 3 track. I was emulating The Guitar Trio on my prized $100 Alvarez, lol.

Anyone deal with Carpal Tunnel?     (Guitar)

I've been playing since 1989, had my first bout with this in the early 2000s. I managed it without surgery and everything was good for years, minus a few hiccups. Then it started again a few years ago, becoming severe for the last year. I documented the last 6 months' decline if anyone's interested.

So I had the surgery on both hands in January, stitches are coming out of the left one Wednesday. For anyone who has done this, or know someone who has- how long until you could play 100% again? Any permanent issues? When can I beat off normally again?
