While Canada has banned WeChat, I can't believe Elon Musk is determined to transform Twitter into a super app like WeChat. Many of Twitter’s product moves under Musk’s ownership have been steps in that direction, and there are hints that more are in the works. And considering X doesn't have a good record of creating a safe, trustworthy space, people should seriously consider migrating to alternative platforms, such as WireMin https://wiremin.org/, Session https://getsession.org/ and Element https://element.io/. These platforms are decentralized, so there are no central servers to save or analyze our messages.
If decentralized platforms seem too much for you, at least use Signal, which also offers end-to-end encryption for conversations.
Do you really think social media platforms like WireMin can replace Twitter?
They do claim to be a Twitter alternative on their website (http://wiremin.org/), but from my perspective, WireMin is too privacy-focused and lack that vibe as a social media platform. It is more suitable for use as a secure messenger.
WireMin can be a good choice for secure chats, but I don't think it is a suitable alternative for social media platforms like Twitter. It prioritizes privacy to such an extent that it lacks the vibe on social media. Its user base is currently small as well. However, as a secure messenger or a tool for sensitive file transfer and topics, it is indeed a good choice.
