While I agree, the ramshackle guerilla nature of the vietcong is overstated. They were heavily supplied by the chinese, who had soviet equipment, who had a whole bunch of german scientists working for them. Certainly they were able to do a lot with very little, but they weren't exactly mcgyvering the whole war.
