Yeah, um, no it doesn't work like that. Water corrodes metal connections, and it starts the instant they get get wet. You want to dry the device off as quickly as possible, so the old "put it in rice" trick is mostly bunk too because it takes too long.

Your best bet is to rinse the circuitry with alcohol immediately. The alcohol replaces water and halts corrosion. 'Course you're going to want to make sure the alcohol is fully evaporated before powering on, for obvious reasons.

If you don't have alcohol then expose as much of the device's insides as you can and go at it with a blow dryer.
