People have woken up to the fact that the "American Dream" is dead. If it ever really existed at all. The concept of if you work harder you can achieve wealth and sucess doesnt apply to the average workforce anymore. Companies dont promote based on merit, raises have seldom ever kept up with inflation, the days of pensions and retirement plans are long gone, nobody want to sit through mandatory diversity and inclusion training, nobody want to answer to thirty middle management idiots that are only competent enough to KEEP the job but cant actually DO the job, etc... Covaids was a huge wakeup call for the American workforce. Many of the folks I talk to are all working on some sort of side hustle at the moment, including myself. People are starting to work for "themselves" rather than play a game they know is rigged againt them. Many others may simply be tired of paying taxes into a system that is actively working againt them. Cant hide money when your company reports your earnings to "the man", the stuff you sell at a flea market or a craft show for cash only gets reported if "you" decide to report it.
