I used to work at Verizon at this time period and Verizon did exactly what this guy did to the half the helpdesk(except outsourced our jobs to India), which was 30 to 40 people, including managers that were there 30+ years. Sending his key fob to China was the real big no no that this guy did, not really so much outsourcing his job. With Verizon (at least during this time period), they had accounts of the federal employees and politicians, like the president and congress members data in the system. So that's a big security concern. I'm surprised they didn't catch it faster. They (Verizon's IT security) will show up at your desk if you plug in a usb key, within 5 mins, asking wtf you are doing. Anyway, since we had "admin" access, we were considered managers and got compensation packages for being let go.
