We were with our homeschool group today and my son fell and hit his head on a corner and got a deep gash in his forehead. Thankfully 2 moms drove me and stayed with me at the ER awhile (they kept me calm, reminded me to say he was "up to date" on vaxs, and were playing little games and singing to keep the boy distracted).
My son is a freaking tank. He barely cried the entire time, barely bled (even though it was a large and deep gash), and when they were constraining him like a burrito and injecting anesthetic into his forehead he stayed relatively calm as I was holding him and consoling him. The Dr and nurse both said they were really surprised, since most kids even twice his age would scream and freak out the whole time. My boy ended up falling asleep while they were stitching him up (thanks valium), we went home, got pizza, and he was running around like nothing happened (as my pregnant self was trying to run after him and prevent him from hitting his head on every single thing that seems to be exactly his forehead height). I have to somehow keep this wound clean and safe from re-injury (he won't keep a bandage on for more than 20min, he's zooming everywhere, and his favorite things to do are wade in the frog pond and play in the dirt with his cars- so wish us luck, haha).
Let me know if you guys have advice, or share a scar-y story :)
That's amazing. My boy loves catching the chickens, but ours run much faster and are less domesticated than the video. He actually did put one in his red wagon last week and got it to somehow stay while he was playing on the scooter.
