It's fucking ridiculous to say you are "luring" thieves, under literally ANY circumstances. You should be able to leave 100 unsecured, brand-new bikes in your front yard with the expectation that NO ONE WILL TOUCH THEM.
I hate this concept, I remember it was used against that old man who "lured" those two 20ish year-old cousins into his basement and shot them dead. This man had reported to the police repeatedly that his house was being regularly broken into, and he knew it was these two kids from the neighborhood. On Thanksgiving, he parked his car behind his house so it looked like no one was home, then sat in his basement reading a book. He began an audio recording.
After some time, you hear someone break in upstairs, they come to the basement and get shot, one after the other. This man was convicted of murder. He did not invite these kids over, but they said he planned their murders... This submission is the same thing. Having nice things is not an invitation to thieves, or bait, or anything like that.
This is the law protecting criminals. Hate it so fucking much.
