I thought it was the best horror flick I've ever seen. Massive jump scares, and lots of em. Absolutely brutal gore. Highly effective sound design and music, if you can even call some of it that.
Lead actress chick even learned the songs and choreography IRL for the role, which lends itself well to the overall authenticity of the film. Yes, I'm aware she's a dike.
What did you fags think? It's a much needed break from all the saccharine Christmas stuff, I found.
I have a very hard time getting into "modern" horror. Most of these films are just glorified tough chick films with loud contrived jump scares and overblown fake CGI gore. The last film that really spooked me was Hereditary, which I thought was genuinely scary and really filled me with dread. I would even go as far to call it a classic. Also recently saw Frailty, which while not necessarily a horror movie, sure fit the bill. Don't think the Smile movies are up my alley, but I'll look into them.
