Interesting case of movies based on a previous movie

There are two sci-fi movies, Strange Days and Inception.

Highly likely both based on two previous movies.

Strange Days (1995) -> Brainstorm (1983).

Inception (2010) -> Dreamscape (1984).

The plot similarities are amazing.

Anybody else watched both?
