I was down in Florida for a family reunion. My brother woke me up before the second plane hit and I watched that thing come out side of the screen. That was the visual today that made me remember. I remember that exact Frozen second of that thing appearing.
Then Air Force One took off right next to us. It was really weird. Then we spent the day in an air airport and there's a lot of machine guns around. Then somebody was buying a moving truck so we rode home in the pitch black back of it. I got home and all the puppies were dead. They had gotten sick. They were all over the place. a really really weird time. My band name at the time was spin laden. I didnt know what a bin laden was. On 9/10/01 i wrote a page called New Century America. I felt it very positive.
I moved to New York City a year and a half later and it was still a pit. The cross was still standing and everything. Chuck what's his name wrote a book claiming that the Kid A album matched the events of 9/11. So I started listening to that album as if it represented that day.
Either way all I know is I stayed messed up until at least 2008. I remember still being messed up about it during that year.
We didnt have TV so we went to a family friend's house and switched between cnn and fox. Our friend called his son who was stationed at travis airforce base. This was at a time when very few had cell phones but he had one on him, even though he wasnt supposed to.
They shot that plane down over PA. It happened right when he had us on hold. The entire room at the airforce base erupted in celebration through the phone. "We got em, Mom! Ok, I'll call you back."
We knew it was shot out of the sky before anyone else even got news that it crashed. Then news reports came in with false info about a crash.
I asked my Dad when they were going to correct the story. He wisely said, "well. They're not going to."
