Was down in Florida for a family reunion. My brother woke me up before the second plane hit and I watched that thing come out the side of the screen. That was the visual today that made me remember. I remember that exact Frozen second of that thing appearing. I can't imagine not seeing it live. It was the only way to experience it.
Then Air Force One took off right next to us. It was really weird. We spent the day in an air airport and there's a lot of machine guns around, no flights. Somebody was buying a moving truck so we rode home in the pitch black back of it. I got home and all the puppies were dead. They had gotten sick. They were all over the place. a really really weird time. My band name at the time was spin laden. I didnt know what a bin laden was. On 9/10/01 i wrote a page called New Century America. All of this contributed to solipsism. I felt maybe i was dreaming.
I moved to New York City a year and a half later and it was still a pit. The cross was still standing and everything. Chuck what's his name wrote a book claiming that the Kid A album matched the events of 9/11. So I started listening to that album as if it represented that day.
Either way all I know is I stayed messed up until at least 2008. I remember still being messed up about it during that year.
I lived like 3hrs away from NYC when it happened but my best childhood friend had moved to NYC with his GF when he got out of high school in 1999, they had an apartment in manhattan at the time, she found a job as a makeup artist on broadway so she could afford the place they were in. I remember the morning of the strikes hoping he was okay, trying to call him but there was no ring, phones weren’t working there by the time I called. He got word to his parents a few days after the strikes letting them know he was safe, then we talked a few days after that. It was all so surreal. I know people were starting to notice a lot of weird things about 9/11 by 2004 or so, then by 2006 Loose Change came out and blew my mind. Not long after that I found Christopher Bolin’s work and it was pretty obvious with his research that jews were behind 9/11. I tried telling my buddy Joe about what I was learning and he got all pissed off, he didn’t wanna hear any of it. He said “you weren’t there, you don’t know what you’re talking about.” He said “I saw it happen it wasn’t controlled demolition and it definitely was jews.”. He thought I had lost my mind and we stopped talking after that, seen him once since we had that conversation and now he and his wife are super leftists (same girl he was dating when he moved to NYC), living back in our hometown running a theatre for plays and shit.
