Actually Rex Harrison was an old gay man, but the song is about a confirmed bachelor. To add to this, it was based on a book Pygmalion by commie George Bernard Shaw. The movie Pygmalion came out in 1938, when Shaw was still alive and he roared when he saw that they changed the ending, the same ending used in My Fair Lady.
How commie was Shaw? He was one of few who attended the funeral of Karl Marx. But all of that aside, I like both movies, 1938 and 1964.
