I'm in the market for a tractor, not a big boy, just a compact, something with about 35-45hp.
If you have experience buying, owning, and using a tractor, I'd love to hear about which brand or brands you've come to trust or have had problems with. I'd also love to hear any advice you may have for a first time buyer, or just any tractor advice you may have about anything tractor related.

Whatever you buy, make sure you can get spare parts easily, preferably not from overseas. There may come a time when you need to identify issues and purchase and replace those components yourself. Prepare for that and you’ll be set, even if you never work on it yourself.
Yeah having a few spare seal kits for the hydraulics never hurts; get a set of seal picks, a few metres of the standard hose sizes and some reusable fittings and you're laughing.
Also buy grease, i recommend fuchs xtb2 and grease the tractor regularly. It amazes me how many people just don't grease their equipment. Prolongs the life considerably.
I have a 1975 Kubota L185DT w/ front end loader, 17.5hp, 3 speed PTO. Have 4ft bush-hog, 5ft finish mower & a rake. Going to get a box blade & tiller in the future.

So far it has done everything I've asked it to do. Bush-hog can cut down up to 3 inch pine trees with 2 passes. It is surprising how much a little machine can do.

If there is any one thing I can suggest, be sure to buy one with a bucket...you will hate yourself in the future if you don't. Good luck in your search.
