Here's the short version, using Wikipedia for cites as much as possible (and using old Voat's formatting cues):

Spain, at the height of its power, had a huge issue with jews. They had just been kicked out of France 2 centuries prior for being entirely horrible, and they mostly went to Spain or Spanish territories, and continued being horrible (the worst being blood passover, ritual murder, etc, but they also invented gambling [as far as we can tell], and were considered swindlers even in Christ's time).
Spain's King, a Catholic, having had enough, finally ordered all jews to convert to Catholicism. These converts are called Conversos. He believed that people could be saved, and didn't want to kick the jews out again if he could save them.
While a healthy fraction properly converted, a large fraction merely pretended to convert, and continued practicing their rituals and jewry in secret. These secret jews were called Marranos, or swine.
The Spanish Inquisition was then formed in 1478 to sniff out these secret jews.
Because the Marranos were grouping together to fool inquisitors, covering for each other, and otherwise aiding and abetting, the King ordered all jews out of his kingdom in 1492, known as the Alhambra Decree. They had a few months to comply, and they would be allowed to keep their wealth (big mistake - never again). Any caught after the deadline would be killed.
The fucking jews weren't even honest enough to actually leave. They broke up into two fractions - the richer jews left for the extremities of the Spanish Empire. The poorer jews actually doubled down on their pretend Catholicism (eventually infecting the Catholic Church itself - but this was centuries later), hence the need for the Inquisition to continue.
The rich jews, who settled in what is now The Netherlands, used their endless stolen wealth to fund mercenaries to fight a war for independence from Spain. This war lasted 80 years, called the 80 years war, and not a single jew died defending his own idea of independence.*

By the way, the Inquisition didn't go away because it finally routed the jews, it went away because they completed their infection of the Spanish crown and Catholic church. This was at the hands of the (((Medici family))), a Marrano bloodline, which were originally expelled from both Florence and later all of Spain, along with the rest of the jews, but managed to return. Further unfortunate for us, most of the early colonial settlers were Marranos fleeing to the colonies, yet again. Here is a cite with a lot of information on this (written from a pro-jew standpoint) - the relevent bits about Marrano migration to the colonies is midway though.



I've got even more detail regarding the creation of The Netherlands as a jewish state, which was their original hovel of degeneracy before they began using the Chinese Legations (~1850s - ~1900s, ending with the Boxer Rebellion), and later Israel (beginning in the late 1940s, while Israel was still stolen Palestinian land and decades before Israel was considered it's own country). FYI, the Legations succeeded The Netherlands as the next hovel until the jews Sidney Rittenberg and Israel Epstein set in motion the plans to (((place Mao in power))) - this is it's own writeup that I can share if interested.
