Helicopters are flying cars and the military does use them with trained pilots. Electric motors simplify everything and make autonomy cheap. They're also responsive and reliable enough to be used in stability augmentation. So what electric motors unlock is the ability for Joe q public to operate a low-cost aircraft with no training.
