I used to wonder if I was the only person who remembered the stories that everyone agreed on 6 months ago. Or even 6 years ago. Iranian nukes being months away for decades. Economic reports constantly revised. Environmental alarmism. Remember when COVID damaged your balls? Then the dawning horror that everyone knows these things, but choses to ignore them. You know this becuase you can mention these things and breifly see recognition in their eyes before they carry on as if the point was never made. Noone will put in the work to resolve the dissonance in the world around them. It's infuriating.

I remember years back they asked the Assistant Deputy something at the FBI why the "War on Drugs" was failing. He said (and it shocked me so much I reread it multiple times) that when they find and then investigate any large illegal drug importation transaction, over half the time they find that the CIA is behind the network.

About 6 months later I looked and looked for that story. Disappeared.
