Bitcoin is for jerks

submitted by RecycledElectrons to whatever 4.1 yearsMay 2, 2021 23:22:03 ago (+2/-1)     (whatever)

Bitcoin is evil.

(1) Bitcoin consumes a ton of electricity.
(2) Bitcoin drives up the price of video cards for us rational people.
(3) Bitcoin is easily traceable, which defeats the purpose.
(4) You can double-spend Bitcoin, which again defeats the purpose.
(5) Almost nobody honors boycotts of the thieves of Bitcoins, even though such people are easily traceable.

You have to be a real jerk to use Bitcoin. I mean, you have to be the kind of jerk that takes the free puppy and feeds it to your snake to use bitcoin. You have to be the kind of jerk that thinks Cruella De Vil is awesome for making a coat out of free puppies to use Bitcoin.

Don't get me wrong. Bitcoin should be legal. Anything that does not deprive others of life, liberty, property, or freedom through force, fraud, coercion, theft, or jewish tricks should be legal. You just have to be a real jerk to use it.

I do not like video games. I see them in the same category as pornography and drugs. I do love my dual 1080p LCDs that I wish I could upgrade to (3 or 4) 4k screens.

I'm going to have to look this up because I can't at all fathom what any of this means.

This effort has already been defeated using an hdmi plug that is widely available.

Thank you, that's a great and succinct explanation! I've been reading about crypto mining after I saw this. Pretty interesting stuff. That's good about the graphics cards.

Mining is decrypting the next block in the chain, not processing other transactions.

The timestamp and transaction data is the smallest part of it and is not the part that needs decrypting.

Please, tell me about your experience with BTC. I mined 2 mBTC in the 2000's and played with it long enough to decide I want to avoid it.

What exactly do you mean by the thieves of bitcoin? Like the ppl that have hacked exchanges and software wallets?
If so, who are they?

[ - ] lord_nougat 2 points 4.1 yearsMay 3, 2021 03:36:57 ago (+2/-0)

Chinks and jews?

[ - ] Jiggggg 1 point 4.1 yearsMay 3, 2021 07:51:57 ago (+1/-0)

I mean it's a logical assumption

People may have a hard time proving they had their wallet hacked, but they can easily prove they paid a BTC ransom to ransomware crooks. BTC exchanged routinely deal with ransomware gangs, and do not seem to care.

Bitcoin is easily traceable, which defeats the purpose.

This is what Monero is for.

You can double-spend Bitcoin

Explain.

I spent a week trying to mine bitcoins in a room of Pentium 3 computers in the days of Windows Server 2003. I got up to 2 milli BitCoin. I was just experimenting. I bought something digital with it, and they sent it. Before the transfer of the BTC cleared the blockchain, I spent it on another thing that they also sent digitally. At that point I LOLed and avoided BTC.
